On February 3, 2025, South Korean girl group IVE held a press conference at the Conrad Seoul hotel in Yeouido to commemorate the release of their third mini-album, IVE EMPATHY. The group emphasized that this album not only explores themes of self but also delves into empathy towards others. Leader Ahn Yu-jin expressed pride in their musical growth, noting that fans have recognized this evolution through comments on their videos.

IVE EMPATHY marks the group's first domestic release in approximately nine months since their previous mini-album, IVE SWITCH, in April 2024. The album comprises six tracks, including the double title tracks "Rebel Heart" and "ATTITUDE." Other notable songs are "FLU," characterized by its addictive chorus and vocal harmonies; "You Wanna Cry," a reinterpretation of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody"; and "Thank U," with lyrics penned by member Liz.

The pre-released track "Rebel Heart," unveiled last month, centers on camaraderie, offering warmth and empathy to listeners. The lyrics shift focus from the individual to the collective, emphasizing mutual support without questioning reasons.

"ATTITUDE" conveys the message that while one cannot change certain situations, one's attitude towards them can be adjusted. The song features a familiar melody, sampling Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner," complemented by rhythmic bass and an infectious chorus.

Liz, the group's vocalist, acknowledged the song's challenging high notes but expressed confidence due to extensive practice. Ahn Yu-jin highlighted their approach to sampling, aiming to present familiar tunes in a unique and captivating manner, weaving them into IVE's distinct narrative.

Member Jang Won-young, who contributed to the lyrics of "ATTITUDE," shared that the song embodies the "Lucky Vicky" mindset—a term combining "lucky" with her English name, Vicky. She emphasized the group's awareness of their influence, especially on younger audiences, and their commitment to promoting positivity.

Reflecting on their journey since debuting in December 2021, IVE has consistently released hit tracks, solidifying their position as leading figures in the fourth generation of K-pop girl groups. Over three years and two months, they have amassed 60 first-place trophies.

Their first world tour, "SHOW WHAT I HAVE," spanned 19 countries and 28 cities, totaling 37 performances and attracting approximately 420,000 attendees. They also graced major international music festivals, including "Lollapalooza Chicago" and Japan's "Summer Sonic 2024," receiving acclaim for their performances.

Member Gaeul expressed a sense of surrealism at becoming seniors in the industry and voiced a desire to be role models for junior artists while continuing to grow alongside them. Liz reiterated their commitment to embodying confidence and self-assuredness, traits that fans associate with IVE, and their determination to evolve further.

On the day of the album's release, member Rei celebrated her birthday, expressing joy at the coincidence and a desire to create happy memories with fans.

Leader Ahn Yu-jin conveyed aspirations for more stage experiences to deliver relaxed performances and specifically mentioned hopes for a concert in Rei's hometown of Nagoya, Japan.

IVE EMPATHY is now available on major streaming platforms, inviting fans to experience the group's musical growth and the positive messages they aim to convey.
